David Sloan Wilson, distinguished professor of biological sciences, was featured in Scientific American on Aug. 17 for his latest book, The Neighborhood Project: Using Evolution to Improve My City, One Block at a Time, an account of the development of the Binghamton Neighborhood Project. The project uses simple tools to collect a database of human behavior, including civic virtue, and uses this database to transform the way a city works.

黑料视频鈥檚 New York State Center of Excellence in Small Scale Systems Integration and Packaging hosts an annual Distinguished Dissertation Awards program to recognize outstanding doctoral dissertations that make significant and original contributions to their academic field. The 2012 awardees are:
1st place: Harry Schoeller, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Superplasticity and the High Temperature Mechanical Behavior of High Pb-Content Solder Alloys
2nd place: Meng Zheng, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Nanoscale Adhesion Interactions in Carbon Nanotube-Based Systems and Experimantal Study of the Mechanical Properties of Carbon and Boron Nitride Nanotubes

Thomas Goodheart, visiting assistant professor of voice was an adjudicator for the National Assocation of Teachers of Singing Regional Vocal competition at Ithaca College in October. He also was an adjudicator and presented a master class on 鈥淧resenting a Successful College Audition鈥 at the Classical Singer National Convention in May in Chicago. Goodheart was the vocal director of the International Music Festival, Songe d’ete en Musique in Quebec, Canada, last summer. Binghamton students Hana Ryu, Mario EunHwan Bae, MM’13, and Robert Heepyoung Oh were among 20 singers chosen from throughout North America to attend the festival.
